Lac

Sawai Jai Singh II invited lac craftsmen in the city from Mohanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Lac bangles find mention in the texts of Mahabharata and Ramayana.  The material is obtained from the secrement of insect Laccifer Lacca and Tachardia Lacca which is cleaned off the odour to obtain the colour. The material is melted off with wax and titanium to add colour. Molten lac wax is sticky and can cling to the metal surface helping in creating a rich variety of designs.
