Tarkashi
The history of Tarkashi crafts in Jaipur is relatively recent in comparison to various other craft forms, with the community migrating from Uttar Pradesh in the mid 20th century. The craft form consists of inlaying fine flattened wire of brass, copper or silver in wood. A hardwood like sheesham is used as a base on which the design is etched and then carved out to be inlayed with copper wires. Traditionally the patterns used could trace their origins in Mughal art and architecture.
